The Oscar Awards 2011 or the 83rd Academy Awards is the most prestigious awards for the movie industry presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences or AMPAS. This year on its 83rd year, the academy will be presenting another memorable evening for all film fanatics all over the world. The awards night will take place on February 27, 2011 live from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California.
During the awards night, the academy will give recognition to twenty four competitive categories including best actor, best actress and best picture. The event will be aired live via ABC in the US. James Franco and actress Anne Hathaway will host the event as first timers. Last January 25, 2011 nominations for the 2010 awards were announced. The King's Speech received the most nominations, twelve. True Grit followed with ten and then The Social Network and Inception, with eight each. Toy Story 3, the highest grossing film of 2010, became the third animated film to be nominated for Best Picture; it is also nominated for four other awards.
